Another cool Android application

A new cool application was released by Google this week as part of the Apps for Android project. This application is called Photostream and lets you browse the photos collection of any Flickr user. The official Android blog has more details about the application.

The source code is available on the Subversion repository and is licensed under the Apache 2.0 License. The repository contains the source code of equally cool applications like Globaltime (the Earth in 3D), Translate or WikiNotes.

If you want to know what it looks like without downloading and installing it yourself, you can take a look at a video of the application in action. The video shows the application running on the emulator from the recent Android SDK 0.9.

    Hello Romain Guy,
    Nice and complete example!

I just imported the SVN code and merged to a new eclipse project, created with the com.google.android.photostream namespace. (Is this the way to do it?)

Then I tried it on the emulator and it just runs fine, but one thing: the SET button (as a background picture), says that it cannot set any picture as background.
It even doesn’t show me the crop box.
Could it be the way I loaded the project?
    Eclipse reports 3 warnings:
Type safety: Generic array of Result is created for a varargs parameter (UserTask.java, line 215)
UserTask is a raw type. References to generic type UserTask<Params,Progress,Result should be parameterized (UserTask.java, lines 426 and 429)

Looks very cool. I’m glad you’ve started blogging about development again, can’t wait to take this for a spin.
